Police Minwon24 (경찰민원24): how to search Korea's police lost & found
LOST112 is now part of Police Minwon24 (경찰민원24). What the portal is, how to search it for a found item, why items appear days after the loss, and how to claim yours.
Korea's national police lost & found now lives inside Police Minwon24 (경찰민원24) at minwon24.police.go.kr. "Police Minwon24" is our English rendering; the portal's own name is Korean.
What Police Minwon24 is
Police Minwon24 is the Korean National Police Agency's single portal for police civil services. It opened on 26 January 2026 and brought together 22 separate police service sites, including the found-property system that ran as LOST112 (유실물종합관리시스템) — see the KNPA press release on korea.kr. There is also a 경찰민원24 app.
Items handed in at police stations and police boxes, and items registered by other institutions such as the subway and airports, are listed in this one nationwide system. The portal's guide says the service is open to foreign nationals as well as Koreans.
How to search for your item
- Open the 습득물 검색 (found-item search) page: minwon24.police.go.kr → 습득물 검색. In the menu it sits under 민원서비스 → 민원 신청·안내.
- Set 습득일자 (date found) to a range that starts on the day you lost the item and runs to today.
- Pick the 물품 분류 (item category).
- Leave 습득지역 (region found) wide at first. A record shows where the item was handed in, which is not always where you lost it.
- Search both kinds of 접수구분: 경찰관서 (police) and 경찰이외의기관 (other institutions such as the subway and airports).
The portal's own tips: search an ID card or certificate by the owner's name (분실자명), and a phone by its serial number or IMEI. The search form opens without logging in. Filing a lost-item report (분실물 신고) is done online after login with Korean identity verification, or in person at any police station or police box.
Why your item may appear days later
The portal's guide explains that institutions which receive found items keep them for up to 7 days (or pass them on at once). Items nobody claims are then transferred to the police station with jurisdiction, or to the lost-property centres in Seoul and Busan. So something left on a train, in a shop or at a hotel may not reach the police database for about a week.
One search proves little. Search again every few days, and contact the place where you lost it directly in the meantime. For hotels, see the hotel lost & found guide.
How to claim it
- The record names the 보관장소 (where the item is held). Contact that office before you go.
- Bring ID. By law the police confirm the claimant's name and address, by a document or by questions, before handing an item over, and you sign a receipt (유실물법 시행령 제4조).
- Don't wait. If the owner does not claim an item within 6 months of it being posted, the finder acquires it (민법 제253조).
- Can't collect it yourself because you have left Korea? We can collect it with your authorization and ship it to you.
Search in English
Our found-item search lets you search found-item records from the police and transit operators in English, by item, date and area.
Phone
The portal's main number is 182 (charged; weekdays 09:00–18:00; from abroad +82-182). It is the general police civil-service line, in Korean.
