경찰민원24 replaced Lost112: what to do if Lost112 isn't working

If you've tried to reach Lost112 (lost112.go.kr) and it looks broken, redirected, or gone — don't worry, your item isn't lost with it. Lost112 didn't shut down. It moved.

What changed: Lost112 → 경찰민원24

As of 26 January 2026, Lost112's lost & found services were folded into Korea's unified police portal, 경찰민원24 (Police Civil Service 24), at minwon24.police.go.kr. ("Minwon / 민원" is the Korean word for any request or filing a citizen makes to a government office — so 경찰민원24 is simply the police's one-stop portal for public requests, and lost & found is now one of the services inside it.)

The old lost112.go.kr address now mostly just points you to the new portal. Nothing was lost in the move: it's the same nationwide database — the same found-item reports from police stations, subways, buses, airports, and other institutions across Korea — just under a new address and a broader portal.

Check the operator first

Before the police portal, check wherever you lost it. A taxi company, a subway line, an airline, a hotel or a department store each run their own lost & found, and an item usually sits there for a day or more before anyone hands it to the police. If it's still with the operator, that's the fastest route back — and it never reaches 경찰민원24 at all.

Then search 경찰민원24

Go to minwon24.police.go.kr and look for the lost-item (유실물) search. That's the current home of what used to be Lost112.

You can use it in your language. The found-item listings render in multiple languages — the results screen, item names, and dates all display in your chosen language, so you don't need Korean just to search. Set the language, then search by item category, date range, and region.

Two things worth knowing before you conclude it isn't there. Items appear on a delay — days, not hours — so a search the same evening proves very little. And the registered location is often not where you lost it: it's where the item was handed in, which can be a different station, a different line, or a police box some distance away. Widen the region and the date range before giving up.

If Korean is the barrier

1330 is Korea's tourist help line, run by the Korea Tourism Organization. It's free, answers 24 hours a day, and offers interpretation in English, Japanese, Chinese and other languages.

Be clear about what it is: 1330 is not a lost & found office. It holds no items and keeps no database. What it can do is interpret — put a live interpreter on a three-way call with a police station or an operator's lost & found desk — and help you understand what a Korean-language page or notice actually says. For a language wall, that is often exactly enough.

Is the old Lost112 app still usable?

The old "LOST112" mobile app is being migrated into the 경찰민원24 app, and during this transition the old app may be limited or unreliable. For the most stable experience, use the 경찰민원24 website (minwon24.police.go.kr) or its app. If you hit a login or verification error, call 경찰민원24's main line, 182 (from abroad +82-182; weekdays 9:00–18:00, charged). If you lost a mobile phone, the Handphone Finding Call Center (핸드폰찾기콜센터, handphone.or.kr) is 1566-4300.

If you find it listed

Finding the entry is not the same as getting the item back. Whoever is holding it will want proof that it's yours, collection is in person during office hours, and the conversation is usually in Korean. If you've already left Korea, or you're nowhere near the station holding it, that last step is the part that stops people.
