KTX & Korail lost and found: how to recover your item
Left something on a KTX, ITX, or Mugunghwa train? Report via the Korail app or website, or call the customer center at 1588-7788. Here's the full process and what details to give.
Korail runs the KTX, ITX and Mugunghwa trains. If you left something on board, the customer centre is the fastest route back — with the right details ready.
Report it to Korail
- Call the customer center: 1588-7788
- Or report via the Korail website or app
- Still at the station? Go to the station office right away — many items turn up during post-arrival cleaning.
Have your train number, travel date and time, route, and car/seat number ready, plus a clear description. Contact details are in the Korail directory entry.
Your item is at the end of the line
Cleaning happens at the terminus, so an item left on board is usually found there rather than at the station where you got off. Tell staff which direction you were travelling as well as where you boarded — that is what tells them which office to check.
Choosing where to collect it
If the item is found but cannot be returned the same day, staff can transfer it to a station you choose for pickup, and will let you know when it is ready.
If it has moved to the police
Items unclaimed by passengers are handed to a nearby police station after a holding period and appear in Police Minwon24 (formerly LOST112) at minwon24.police.go.kr. How to search it is in the police lost & found guide.
Two things are worth knowing before you conclude it is gone. Nothing appears there for days after the handover, so a search the same evening proves very little. And the record shows where the item was handed in — a station near the terminus — not where you lost it, so keep the region wide and lead with item type and date.
If Korean is the barrier
1330 is Korea's tourist help line, run by the Korea Tourism Organization. It is free, answers 24 hours a day, and offers interpretation in English, Japanese, Chinese and other languages.
It is not a lost & found office — it holds no items and keeps no database. What it does is interpret, including on a three-way call with the Korail customer centre, a station office or a police station, and explain what a Korean-language page or notice actually says.
Riding SRT instead?
SRT is a separate operator — see the SRT lost and found guide.
If the item is located but you cannot collect it in person — you have left Korea, or the station holding it is hours away — it can be released to someone acting for you with written authorization and their own ID, and shipping abroad is arranged by whoever collects it: here's what that takes.
