Refund Policy

This Refund Policy explains the refund and cancellation terms for Lost & Found Korea ("LFK"). By using our services, you agree to this policy.
1. Our Refund Approach
Depending on the plan, our services are either prepaid-and-go or pay-on-success. In every case, once a service has been initiated — or the location information has been disclosed — payment is non-refundable, because each service involves real-time coordination, travel, third-party costs, physical handling, and/or the delivery of information that cannot be withdrawn once provided.
This policy is provided in accordance with Article 17, Paragraph 2 of Korea's Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, which permits limitations on the statutory right of withdrawal for services that, by their nature, cannot be reversed once they have been initiated or provided.
Please review the service details and cost estimate carefully before committing to payment.
Region surcharge. Depending on where in Korea your item is recovered, a region surcharge may apply to your plan (the amounts are listed in Section 2.4 of our Terms of Service). The surcharge is part of the service fee and is subject to the same refund terms as the plan to which it applies.
2. Domestic Delivery ($39) — Prepaid, Non-Refundable
For an item whose location you already know, shipped within Korea.
2.1 Prepayment Required
The Domestic Delivery service requires upfront payment of the $39 LFK service fee before the service begins.
2.2 Non-Refundable
Recovery and pickup begin immediately upon payment — our team travels to the location and coordinates with the facility right away. Because the service is initiated and cannot be reversed once started, the fee is non-refundable once paid. This limitation is made under Article 17(2) of the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce (services that, by their nature, cannot be reversed once initiated).
3. International Delivery ($49) — Prepaid, Non-Refundable
For an item whose location you already know, shipped worldwide.
3.1 Prepayment Required
The International Delivery service requires upfront payment of the $49 LFK service fee before the service begins.
3.2 Non-Refundable
The same terms as Domestic Delivery apply: recovery and pickup begin immediately upon payment, so the fee is non-refundable once paid, under Article 17(2) of the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce.
4. All-in-One ($79) — Pay When Found, Then Non-Refundable
For an item whose location is unknown — we search, recover, and deliver.
4.1 Free Intake
Submitting an All-in-One request is free. No charge is made to submit a request, and no payment information is required up front.
4.2 We Search First — No Charge If Not Found
We search on your behalf before any charge. If we cannot locate your item, there is no charge and nothing is owed.
4.3 Payment Unlocks the Location
If we successfully locate your item, you pay the $79 service fee. The item's location is disclosed only after payment — payment is what unlocks the location information and the recovery/delivery service.
4.4 Non-Refundable Once Disclosed
Once payment is made and the location information has been disclosed, the service is considered delivered and the fee is non-refundable. This explicitly includes the case where you later change your mind and decline delivery: no refund is given, because you have already paid for and received the location information, which is the core deliverable of the service. This limitation is made under Article 17(2) of the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce (information and services that cannot be reversed once provided).
5. Shipping Costs (All Plans)
Courier/shipping cost is not included in any service fee.
- After we recover and weigh your item, we send you the exact third-party shipping cost to approve before anything ships — quoted at cost, with no markup.
- Shipping charges are forwarded to the carrier on your behalf and are non-refundable by LFK.
- Customs duties and import taxes are the recipient's responsibility.
6. Shipping Risk
Once your item is handed over to a shipping carrier:
- Risk transfers entirely to the carrier and recipient.
- LFK is not liable for items lost, damaged, delayed, or seized during shipping.
- All paid amounts (LFK fees and third-party costs) are non-refundable for issues occurring after handover.
- Claims for lost or damaged shipments must be filed directly with the carrier or the shipping insurance provider; we will provide reasonable documentation assistance.
We strongly recommend purchasing shipping insurance for items of significant value before shipment.
7. Cancellation by LFK
In rare cases, we may cancel a service if:
- The item cannot be legally recovered or shipped
- The facility holding the item refuses cooperation
- Information you provided is materially incorrect or fraudulent
- Continued service would violate applicable laws
In such cases, we will refund the LFK service fee paid, minus any third-party costs already incurred on your behalf (documented and itemized). This is the only scenario in which a refund of the LFK service fee is issued.
8. Currency and Exchange Rate
Fees are charged in the currency shown at checkout (KRW on the Korean site; USD on the English and Japanese sites). All payments and any applicable refunds (under Section 7) are processed in the original payment currency. LFK is not responsible for currency-conversion losses or exchange-rate fluctuations.
9. Disputes
If you have concerns about a charge:
- Contact us first at support@lostandfoundkorea.com for informal resolution.
- If unresolved, you may pursue formal dispute resolution per Section 14 of our Terms of Service.
- Card or PayPal transactions may also be disputed through the payment provider's resolution process.
10. Korean Consumer Protection
For users covered by Korean consumer protection laws, the rights provided under those laws apply in addition to this policy. Where this policy conflicts with mandatory consumer protection law, the law prevails.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Changes apply only to services purchased after the update.

By using LFK's services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Refund Policy, including the prepayment requirement for the delivery plans, the pay-when-found terms for All-in-One, and the non-refundable nature of payments once a service is initiated or the location information is disclosed.
